2nd round - w.46

Surprisingly Guile could advance in this competition without troubles at all. He got the face the mentally disturbed german knight Siegfried and it was possibly this maniac’s crazy mind that cost him the win. In a weak moment he let his guard down giving Guile the opportunity to disarm him with a Sonic Boom, followed by a double somersault kick which ended the dark knights killing spree.
The astonishing Kitana got to face a big, bearlike, wrestling giant of a man, Haggar. This could have been a great match if Haggar had managed to wrap his pythons around the petite princess. However, her speed and skills with the razorsharp steelfans never gave him this opportunity. Kitana tired out the older, slower Haggar and got a spot in the 2nd round.
Now we present a great fight. A strong, cool american army dude with great fighting techniques versus and outworld, lethal princess armed with sharp blades and deadly looks. An even match or what?

Poor Billy Lee faced a tough careerending opponent in his first round, the physically stronger, faster, tougher and meaner Sub-Zero. Billy started the match by showing his quite mediocre Nunchakus skills. The stonecold Sub-Zero stood watching him by distance and suddenly delivered a shower of icicles to the unsuspecting Billy, deepfreezing his body for a long time.
Irish assassin Nina had sort of a more even match against her first combattant. Considering that her opponent was a... chef.. maybe that’s not so much to be proud of. She could however practise some awesome Aikido moves on the poor chef, stretching and pulling his working arms in strange ways, making the oldman tap out and scream “I quit”.
This week we will see the icey Sub-Zero with all his cold tricks against a female assassin with great techniques. Nina has actually been frozen down before so maybe she can withstand the most powerful attack of Sub-Zero.

Akira went up against Tina Armstrong in his first match. Although initially surprised by the strength of the American girl, Akira eventually managed to secure a decisive victory by utilizing a number of sudden shoulder tackles and punches.
Italian madman Voldo also had to deal with a member of the Armstrong family. Champion wrestler Bass definitily had a size and power advantage, but Voldo's claws kept him from using his many high impact wrestling moves. A couple of swipes and stabs later, Voldo had advanced to the second round without too much problem.
This match is very much a case of two complete opposites facing off against one another. Highly disciplined and accomplished Akira Yuki against the unpredictable and erratic Voldo. Will the strength and technique of the Japanese fighter prove to be too much for Voldo to handle, or will it be the lunatic's claws and unorthodox fighting style that will be the downfall for Akira?
Old man Gen Fu had a rough task ahead of him, taking on young and powerful wrestler Wolf Hawkfield. One wrong move by Gen Fu could prove disastrous, but he proved why he's still a dangerous combatant even at his age. Although Wolf exploded at him right from the start, Gen Fu managed to carefully avoid the Canadian's assault and counter with his own brand of martial arts, eventually securing the win.
Cervantes went up against a familiar foe in the ninja Taki. The two had met in combat years earlier, where Taki came out on top. Things would turn out differently this time, although it was far from an easy match. Swords clashed, attacks were parried and blood was spilled. In the end, Cervantes proved that he had learned something from their previous encounter and managed to knock the ninja out with a devastating flurry of offense.
Gen Fu has the discipline, technique and willpower. Cervantes has the brute force, explosiveness and deadly swords. Only one can prevail in the end and advance to the quarter-finals.

Guile/Kitana. It sucks, but I have to vote against my childhood hero Guile. Kitana is faster + shes got her killing fans. Easy win unfortunately.

Sub-Zero/Nina. Childhood hero 2, Sub-Zero will advance without hesitation.

Akira/Voldo. Voldos unpredicatbility and psycothic behaviour will take him to 3d round.

GenFu/Cervantes. Cervantes will kick both GenFu and the whole Dead or Alive team out of this competition. Long live Cervantes.

The first match is the hardest to decide on in this round. It could go either way, but Kitana is probably a bit more ruthless and has her steel fans. I say she wins after a long hard fight.

Nina may be a great fighter, but so is her opponent who also happens to have the powers of ice at his disposal. Nina doesn't really have anything to counter that, so Sub wins.

While Akira's calm min and discipline could serve him well against Voldo, I really don't see it being enough. Nobody can predict what Voldo will do, and his claws will shred Akira to pieces.

Two old men fighting one another. My money is on the one with the swords.
